A fix is available and can be applied by updating Perl packages to the versions provided by Ubuntu in their security advisories. Users should apply the official updates distributed for their Ubuntu release to remediate this vulnerability. Standard system updates will include these fixes.

Description

Perl versions prior to 3.41 contain a signed integer overflow vulnerability in the Storable module during deserialization of crafted SX_HOOK records. This vulnerability causes a panic and terminates the deserialization process, leading to denial of service by application termination. Fixes for this issue are available in updated package versions distributed by Ubuntu.
