AI-suggested

Upgrade Streamlink to version 8.6.0 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. The vendor has provided an official patch that rejects cross-protocol redirects to file:// URLs, preventing local file reads via redirects. No additional mitigation is required once the upgrade is applied.

Description

Streamlink versions prior to 8.6.0 contain a vulnerability where HTTPSession improperly follows HTTP redirects to file:// URLs. This allows a remote server to cause Streamlink to read local files and expose their contents through the video stream output. The issue is fixed in version 8.6.0.
