Users should avoid configuring LDAP authentication to use the SIMPLE method, or ensure that LDAP communication is secured using encryption methods such as LDAPS or StartTLS. Monitoring vendor advisories for updates and applying any forthcoming patches is recommended.

Description

CVE-2024-34162 is a vulnerability in the web interface of certain devices where LDAP credentials are intended to be hidden even from administrative users. However, when LDAP authentication is configured to use the SIMPLE method, the device transmits the LDAP password in clear-text over the network. This clear-text transmission allows an attacker to intercept and retrieve the LDAP password. The vulnerability has a medium severity rating with a CVSS score of 5.3. Specific affected product details are provided by the respective vendors in their advisories.
