AI-suggested

Upgrade to Tornado version 6.6 or later, which removes support for obsolete line folding and rejects header lines starting with whitespace. If upgrading is not immediately possible, keep the max_header_size setting at the default 64 KB or lower to limit impact. Additionally, deploy a reverse proxy that rejects or normalizes obsolete line folding before requests reach Tornado.

Description

Tornado HTTP servers have a vulnerability where parsing HTTP headers with obsolete line folding causes quadratic CPU usage, leading to event loop blocking and degraded availability. This affects all Tornado HTTP servers before version 6.6. The issue is fixed by removing support for obsolete line folding in Tornado 6.6. The vulnerability impacts availability only, with no confidentiality or integrity risks.
