Uncontrolled recursion in the Gosub browser engine (gosub-engine) through 0.1.0 and main before commit 46868b3 allows a remote attacker to cause a Denial of Service (stack exhaustion and application crash) via an SVG document containing an excessive number of deeply nested elements. Because the engine does not limit the nesting depth of processed SVG nodes, rendering such a document overflows the thread stack and terminates the application. The malicious SVG can be embedded through the SRC attribute of an IMG element, and thus exploitation only requires the victim to visit an attacker-controlled web page.

Technical Summary
CVE-2026-103087 describes an uncontrolled recursion vulnerability in the Gosub browser engine versions through 0.1.0 and main before commit 46868b3. The engine does not limit the nesting depth of SVG nodes during rendering, allowing an attacker to craft an SVG with deeply nested elements that cause stack overflow and application termination. Exploitation requires embedding the malicious SVG in an IMG element's SRC attribute on a web page visited by the victim, resulting in a denial of service via stack exhaustion.
Potential Impact
Successful exploitation leads to denial of service by crashing the application due to stack exhaustion caused by uncontrolled recursion when processing deeply nested SVG elements. This impacts availability of the affected application or service using the vulnerable Gosub engine.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided. Users should monitor vendor communications for updates and avoid loading untrusted SVG content in the affected versions until a fix is available.
