Until a fix is available, avoid processing untrusted .hmp files with WildMIDI and consider restricting access to the affected functionality.
Description
WildMIDI versions through 0.5.0 contain a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the HMP parser function _WM_ParseNewHmp(). This flaw allows attackers to craft .hmp files with underflowed chunk lengths that cause reads beyond allocated buffers, potentially crashing applications or exposing heap memory contents via WildMidi_GetInfo(). The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 6.1, indicating medium severity.
