Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-6071 is a remote code execution vulnerability in Rockwell Automation Arena Simulation caused by an out-of-bounds write during DOE file parsing. The vulnerability arises from insufficient validation of user-supplied data, enabling attackers to write past the end of an allocated object. Exploitation requires user interaction, such as opening a crafted file or visiting a malicious page, allowing arbitrary code execution in the context of the current process. Rockwell Automation has issued a patch to fix this vulnerability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the affected application process. This can lead to full compromise of the affected system or application. The vulnerability requires user interaction but has a high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Rockwell Automation has released an official update that corrects this vulnerability. Users and administrators should apply the provided update promptly to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patch.
