Claude Code is an agentic coding tool. In versions prior to 2.1.75 on Windows, Claude Code loaded the system-wide default configuration from C:\ProgramData\ClaudeCode\managed-settings.json without validating directory ownership or access permissions. Because the ProgramData directory is writable by non-administrative users by default and the ClaudeCode subdirectory was not pre-created or access-restricted, a low-privileged local user could create this directory and place a malicious configuration file that would be automatically loaded for any user launching Claude Code on the same machine. Exploiting this would have required a shared multi-user Windows system and a victim user to launch Claude Code after the malicious configuration was placed. This issue has been fixed on version 2.1.75.
Adobe Framemaker versions 2022.8 and earlier are affected by an Untrusted Search Path vulnerability that might allow attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user. If the application uses a search path to locate critical resources such as programs, then an attacker could modify that search path to point to a malicious program, which the targeted application would then execute. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction.
PraisonAI versions 4.5.138 and earlier are vulnerable to arbitrary code execution due to automatic, unsanitized import of a local tools.py file at startup. This allows an attacker with write access to the working directory to execute arbitrary Python code within the PraisonAI process and potentially compromise the host system and connected data. The vulnerability is fixed in version 4.5.139.
PraisonAI is a multi-agent teams system. Prior to 4.5.128, PraisonAI automatically loads a file named tools.py from the current working directory to discover and register custom agent tools. This loading process uses importlib.util.spec_from_file_location and immediately executes module-level code via spec.loader.exec_module() without explicit user consent, validation, or sandboxing. The tools.py file is loaded implicitly, even when it is not referenced in configuration files or explicitly requested by the user. As a result, merely placing a file named tools.py in the working directory is sufficient to trigger code execution. This behavior violates the expected security boundary between user-controlled project files (e.g., YAML configurations) and executable code, as untrusted content in the working directory is treated as trusted and executed automatically. If an attacker can place a malicious tools.py file into a directory where a user or automated system (e.g., CI/CD pipeline) runs praisonai, arbitrary code execution occurs immediately upon startup, before any agent logic begins. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.5.128.
OpenTelemetry-Go is the Go implementation of OpenTelemetry. From 1.15.0 to 1.42.0, the fix for CVE-2026-24051 changed the Darwin ioreg command to use an absolute path but left the BSD kenv command using a bare name, allowing the same PATH hijacking attack on BSD and Solaris platforms. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.43.0.
CVE-2026-3780 is a high-severity vulnerability in Foxit PDF Reader versions 2025.3 and earlier. The installer runs with elevated privileges but uses untrusted search paths to resolve system executables and DLLs, which may include user-writable directories. This allows a local attacker to place malicious binaries with the same names as legitimate system files, causing the installer to load or execute the malicious files instead. This results in local privilege escalation. No patch or official fix information is currently available.
ScreenToGif is a screen recording tool. In versions from 2.42.1 and prior, ScreenToGif is vulnerable to DLL sideloading via version.dll . When the portable executable is run from a user-writable directory, it loads version.dll from the application directory instead of the Windows System32 directory, allowing arbitrary code execution in the user's context. This is especially impactful because ScreenToGif is primarily distributed as a portable application intended to be run from user-writable locations. At time of publication, there are no publicly available patches.
Illustrator versions 29.8.4, 30.1 and earlier are affected by an Untrusted Search Path vulnerability that might allow attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file.
TimescaleDB is a time-series database for high-performance real-time analytics packaged as a Postgres extension. From version 2.23.0 to 2.25.1, PostgreSQL uses the search_path setting to locate unqualified database objects (tables, functions, operators). If the search_path includes user-writable schemas a malicious user can create functions in that schema that shadow builtin postgres functions and will be called instead of the postgres functions leading to arbitrary code execution during extension upgrade. This issue has been patched in version 2.25.2.
ERP developed by eAI Technologies has a DLL Hijacking vulnerability, allowing authenticated local attackers to place a crafted DLL file in the same directory as the program, thereby executing arbitrary code.
CVE-2026-25880 is a high-severity vulnerability in SumatraPDF versions 3.5.2 and earlier, involving an untrusted search path weakness (CWE-426). When a user opens a PDF and clicks File → “Show in folder”, the application executes a binary named explorer.exe located in the same directory as the PDF without proper validation. This allows an attacker to place a malicious executable in the PDF’s folder, leading to arbitrary code execution with the current user's privileges. Exploitation requires user interaction limited to clicking the menu option, with no additional warnings. The vulnerability affects Windows systems running vulnerable SumatraPDF versions. Although no known exploits are reported in the wild yet, the ease of exploitation and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability make this a significant threat. European organizations using SumatraPDF on Windows should prioritize patching or mitigating this issue to prevent potential compromise.
IBM App Connect Enterprise Certified Container CD: 11.2.0 through 11.6.0, 12.1.0 through 12.19.0 and 12.0 LTS: 12.0.0 through 12.0.19 could allow an attacker to access sensitive files or modify configurations due to an untrusted search path.
A maliciously crafted project directory, when opening a max file in Autodesk 3ds Max, could lead to execution of arbitrary code in the context of the current process due to an Untrusted Search Path being utilized.
An untrusted search path vulnerability has been identified in the Embedded Solutions Framework in various Lexmark devices. This vulnerability can be leveraged by an attacker to execute arbitrary code.
CVE-2026-24051 is a high-severity vulnerability affecting the OpenTelemetry-Go SDK versions 1.21.0 up to but not including 1.40.0 on macOS/Darwin systems. The vulnerability arises from an untrusted search path (CWE-426) in the resource detection code that executes the 'ioreg' system command without specifying an absolute path. An attacker with local access who can modify the PATH environment variable can hijack this command execution to run arbitrary code within the application's context. This flaw allows for arbitrary code execution without user interaction but requires local privileges and a high attack complexity. No known exploits are currently reported in the wild. The issue was fixed in version 1.
During the installation of the Native Access application, a privileged helper `com.native-instruments.NativeAccess.Helper2`, which is used by Native Access to trigger functions via XPC communication like copy-file, remove or set-permissions, is deployed as well. The communication with the XPC service of the privileged helper is only allowed if the client process is signed with the corresponding certificate and fulfills the following code signing requirement:
"anchor trusted and certificate leaf[subject.CN] = \"Developer ID Application: Native Instruments GmbH (83K5EG6Z9V)\""
The Native Access application was found to be signed with the `com.apple.security.cs.allow-dyld-environment-variables` and `com.apple.security.cs.disable-library-validation` entitlements leading to DYLIB injection and therefore command execution in the context of this application. A low privileged user can exploit the DYLIB injection to trigger functions of the privileged helper XPC service resulting in privilege escalation by first deleting the /etc/sudoers file and then copying a malicious version of that file to /etc/sudoers.
