A security vulnerability has been detected in getformwork formwork up to 2.3.12. Impacted is the function DomSanitizer::sanitizeNodeAttribute of the file formwork/src/Sanitizer/DomSanitizer.php of the component URI Sanitizer. Formwork versions prior to 2.3.13 contain a path traversal vulnerability in the BackupController. Authenticated users with backup download or delete permissions can exploit this flaw by supplying a specially crafted base64-encoded traversal payload. This payload bypasses PHP basename on Linux systems, allowing access to files outside the intended backup directory. The vulnerability enables reading or deleting arbitrary files on the server.

Formwork before 2.3.11 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in visit tracking that records the Referer header host unescaped. Unauthenticated attackers can craft malicious Referer headers to inject markup that executes in administrator browsers when viewing the Statistics panel.

Formwork is a flat file-based Content Management System (CMS). Prior to version 2.2.0, inserting unsanitized data into the blog tag field results in stored cross‑site scripting (XSS). Any user with credentials to the Formwork CMS who accesses or edits an affected blog post will have attacker‑controlled script executed in their browser. The issue is persistent and impacts privileged administrative workflows. This issue has been patched in version 2.2.0.
