Rex versions through 1.16.1 for Perl have a vulnerability where the SSH host key is not properly authenticated during remote rsync transfers. This occurs because the sync tool hardcodes the SSH option StrictHostKeyChecking=no, which disables host key verification. As a result, an attacker able to redirect the connection can present a malicious host key, causing the client to trust the attacker’s server. This can lead to password disclosure and unauthorized file uploads or downloads during the transfer. Join the discussion | CVE Database V5 | 10/21/2026, 21:22:19 UTC Added: 10/21/2026, 21:46:09 UTC |
