This vulnerability arises from improper restriction of XML external entity references during parsing of rich-text annotations, form-field values, and XFA configurations in untrusted PDFs. Exploitation could allow local file disclosure and outbound network requests. The issue is fixed starting from versions 1.30.2 and 1.31.71. This flaw exists in the getRichTextStringOrStreamEntryStringRepresentation() function, where processing crafted PDFs with malicious rich-text entries can lead to external entity expansion. This may cause local file contents to be reflected in validation reports. The vulnerability is fixed in versions 1.30.2 and 1.31.71.
