0 Markdown Preview Enhanced for Visual Studio Code prior to version 0.8.30 contains a vulnerability where the webview message handler accepts attacker-controlled commands and arguments without validation. This allows JavaScript running in the preview webview to invoke privileged extension commands, including file modification and code execution, if an attacker can execute JavaScript in the webview through another vulnerability. The issue is fixed in version 0.8.30. Join the discussion | CVE Database V5 | 10/14/2026, 19:13:58 UTC Added: 10/14/2026, 19:34:08 UTC |
CVE-2026-54525 is an OS command injection vulnerability in the vscode-markdown-preview-enhanced extension for Visual Studio Code. Versions prior to 0.8.28 improperly handle decoded Markdown link targets on Windows, passing them to a file-opening helper that executes commands via cmd.exe. This allows an attacker to execute arbitrary commands with the privileges of the current user when a crafted link is clicked in an untrusted Markdown file. The issue is fixed in version 0.8.28.
