(CVE-2024-0564)CVE-2024-0564 0 A side-channel vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's memory deduplication mechanism (Kernel Samepage Merging, KSM) that can allow an attacker sharing the same host to infer information about a victim's memory pages by timing page unmapping operations. This issue affects multiple Linux kernel versions used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 8, and 9. Exploitation requires local access and the default KSM setting of max page sharing at 256. The vulnerability is rated as low impact due to its complexity and limited exploitability. Mitigation includes disabling memory deduplication, which impacts performance, or restricting access to services to reduce attack surface. A fix may be released in a future update.
