CVE-2024-27817 is a high-severity vulnerability in Apple iOS and iPadOS that allows an app to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges due to an out-of-bounds write issue in the CoreMedia component. The vulnerability is addressed by improved input validation and memory handling. Apple has released official patches for this issue in iOS 16.7.8, iPadOS 16.7.8, iOS 17.5, and iPadOS 17.5, as well as corresponding updates for macOS, tvOS, and visionOS. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.
