0 Red Hat has issued a security advisory for multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel packages included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 Extended Update Support and related products. The update addresses several issues including use-after-free, double free, race conditions, buffer overflows, and speculation side-channel fixes across various kernel subsystems such as networking, Bluetooth, SCSI, and WiFi. The advisory rates the update as important and requires a system reboot after applying the patches. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 09/11/2025, 06:45:54 UTC Added: 06/25/2026, 04:31:13 UTC |

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/hugetlb: fix huge_pmd_unshare() vs GUP-fast race huge_pmd_unshare() drops a reference on a page table that may have previously been shared across processes, potentially turning it into a normal page table used in another process in which unrelated VMAs can afterwards be installed. If this happens in the middle of a concurrent gup_fast(), gup_fast() could end up walking the page tables of another process. While I don't see any way in which that immediately leads to kernel memory corruption, it is really weird and unexpected. Fix it with an explicit broadcast IPI through tlb_remove_table_sync_one(), just like we do in khugepaged when removing page tables for a THP collapse. CVE-2024-28956 is an information disclosure vulnerability affecting some Intel processors. It involves exposure of sensitive information through shared microarchitectural structures during transient execution. The vulnerability requires local authenticated access and has a medium severity rating with a CVSS score of 5.7. Red Hat has released updates for the Linux kernel and microcode_ctl packages to address this issue in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. Users must apply these updates and reboot their systems to mitigate the vulnerability. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 05/13/2025, 21:02:56 UTC Added: 06/25/2026, 21:47:17 UTC |
