A stack overflow vulnerability (CVE-2025-46397) exists in the xfig component of the transfig utility, which translates FIG or PIC figures into LaTeX graphics languages. This vulnerability allows possible code execution via local input manipulation. Red Hat has issued a security update for transfig in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 to address this issue. The update is rated as having moderate security impact. No known exploits are reported in the wild at this time.
