The issue occurred in the hwdep_read() function for DSP events, where more bytes could be written to a user buffer than requested if the buffer was smaller than the event header size (8 bytes). The fix clamps the copy size to the user-requested length, preventing overflow. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 12/24/2025, 12:30:29 UTC Added: 07/30/2026, 15:50:42 UTC |
Linux hwe edge: In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: firewire-motu: fix buffer overflow in hwdep read for DSP events The DSP… (CVE-2025-68347)CVE-2025-68347 0 In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: firewire-motu: fix buffer overflow in hwdep read for DSP events The DSP event handling code in hwdep_read() could write more bytes to the user buffer than requested, when a user provides a buffer smaller than the event header size (8 bytes). Fix by using min_t() to clamp the copy size, This ensures we never copy more than the user requested. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 12/24/2025, 11:15:00 UTC Added: 07/18/2026, 11:32:37 UTC |
