CVE-2026-10038: CWE-639 Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key in smub Charitable – Donation Plugin for WordPress – Fundraising with Recurring Donations & MoreCVE-2026-10038
0

CVE-2026-10038 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in the Charitable – Donation Plugin for WordPress (up to version 1. 8. 11. 1). It allows authenticated users with Subscriber-level access or higher to delete arbitrary attachments from the WordPress Media Library. This occurs because the plugin's save_avatar() function deletes attachments based on a user meta value 'avatar' without verifying ownership, and the process_picture() function can be manipulated to set this meta to any attachment ID. The vulnerability requires a two-step attack: first poisoning the avatar meta with a target attachment ID, then triggering deletion via an avatar upload. The CVSS score is 4. 3, indicating medium severity. No official patch or remediation guidance is currently available.
