0 CVE-2026-105241 is a medium severity vulnerability in Apache log4net affecting versions from 1.2.9 up to but not including 3.5.0. It involves improper handling of Unicode encoding in the SmtpPickupDirAppender component. Specifically, when the mail file writer encounters content it cannot encode, such as an unpaired UTF-16 surrogate, it throws an error causing all buffered events in the batch to be discarded and potentially leaving a truncated mail file in the pickup directory. This can allow an attacker who controls log message content to suppress logging of other events. The issue is fixed in version 3.5.0.
