0 Progressive Robot Ltd hMailServer versions 6.0.0 through 6.3.5 contain a vulnerability where the server fails open when applying DANE to outbound SMTP delivery. This failure allows an attacker who can manipulate DNS responses to disable DANE validation for DNSSEC-signed recipient domains, potentially causing email to be delivered in cleartext or to an attacker-controlled host. The issue arises from the server's DNSSEC-validating resolver incorrectly treating certain DNS failures as if the recipient domain were unsigned.
