FFmpeg versions before 8.1.3 have a protection mechanism failure in the HLS demuxer. This flaw allows attackers to bypass protocol and allowed_extensions restrictions when opening child playlists. By supplying a crafted master playlist with child playlists using disallowed protocols or non-multimedia local files, attackers can cause parse_playlist() to open resources that should be blocked by the HLS security policy. The vulnerability has a medium severity with a CVSS score of 4.3. Join the discussion | GCVE Database | 10/08/2026, 18:32:30 UTC Added: 10/08/2026, 21:45:54 UTC |
