Pillow versions from 5.1.0 up to but not including 13.0.0 contain a vulnerability where parsing certain crafted PDFs during an append operation can cause uncontrolled recursion. This leads to excessive CPU and memory consumption or a RecursionError, resulting in denial of service. The issue arises from PdfParser following page-tree child references without adequate cycle or duplication checks and insufficient guarding of trailer chains. The vulnerability is fixed in version 13.0.0. Join the discussion | CVE Database V5 | 10/19/2026, 21:57:14 UTC Added: 10/19/2026, 22:04:15 UTC |
