CVE-2026-12233: dos in zephyrproject zephyrCVE-2026-12233 0 CVE-2026-12233 is a denial of service vulnerability in the Zephyr project's PSA Protected Storage credential backend. The issue arises because a mutex used for credential storage is declared but never properly initialized, leading to a NULL pointer dereference when multiple execution contexts contend on the lock. This causes a deterministic kernel panic or device reset during concurrent TLS handshake credential loading or credential management operations. The vulnerability affects Zephyr versions 3.2.0 and later up to, but not including, 4.4.2, specifically when CONFIG_TLS_CREDENTIALS_BACKEND_PROTECTED_STORAGE is enabled. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity, only availability due to the denial of service. The fix involves properly initializing the mutex with K_MUTEX_DEFINE to prevent the NULL dereference on contention.
