The vulnerability involves improper handling of AT command response parsing, leading to a single-byte out-of-bounds write in most cases and a full stack buffer overflow in the +KCELLMEAS handler. This can cause kernel memory corruption, potentially resulting in a kernel crash or code execution in kernel context. Exploitation requires an attacker to control modem-emitted AT response lines longer than 128 bytes, which is a high complexity attack vector.
