The flaw arises from improper privilege management involving an AJAX endpoint that lacks capability checks and nonce validation, combined with a developer access login mechanism that authenticates users based on an insecure transient value. Authenticated users with subscriber-level access or higher can exploit this to escalate privileges to administrator by setting a known transient token and visiting a crafted URL.
