CVE-2026-14895: CWE-1333 Inefficient Regular Expression Complexity in BAKERSCOT String::UtilCVE-2026-14895
0

String::Util versions before 1.36 for Perl contain a regular expression denial of service (ReDoS) vulnerability in the trim and rtrim functions. These functions use a regex pattern that can cause excessive backtracking when processing long runs of whitespace, leading to CPU exhaustion. The issue arises from the use of a greedy \s*$ pattern, which is replaced by \s+$ in the fixed version. Untrusted input containing long whitespace sequences passed to these functions can trigger this vulnerability.
