CVE-2026-15801 is a path traversal vulnerability in CRI-O's container checkpoint and restore feature used by Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4. It arises from insufficient validation of restore metadata, potentially allowing privileged users to perform unintended operations on the host filesystem. Exploitation requires that the checkpoint and restore feature be explicitly enabled (not default) and that an attacker can trigger restoration from untrusted checkpoint content. The vulnerability has a high severity rating with significant confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts on affected nodes.
