CVE-2026-1681 is a medium severity vulnerability in the Zephyr RTOS network stack where issuing an ICMP ping to the device's own IPv4 address causes uncontrolled recursion. This recursion occurs because the network stack processes both the echo request and echo reply inline on the same work-queue stack, leading to a stack overflow. The vulnerability affects all versions of Zephyr. There is no confirmed patch or official remediation available at this time. Exploitation requires local access and user interaction via the shell command. No known exploits are reported in the wild.
