CVE-2026-18495 is a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the tiff2pdf utility of libtiff used in Red Hat Hardened Images. The flaw arises from an integer truncation error when processing crafted BigTIFF files, causing a 64-bit value to be truncated to 32 bits. This leads to undersized memory allocation and out-of-bounds memory copy, resulting in a crash and potential severe memory corruption. Exploitation requires local access and user interaction, such as opening a malicious file. Red Hat has released an update to address this issue.
