CVE-2026-18909: CWE-121 Stack-based buffer overflow in ELAN Microelectronics Corp. ELAN Smart-PadCVE-2026-18909 0 CVE-2026-18909 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in ELAN Microelectronics Corp.'s ELAN Smart-Pad driver components ETD.sys and ETDSMBus.sys on Windows. The flaw occurs during Intel SMBus recovery when ETDSMBus.sys fails to enforce an upper bound on a hardware-derived report count, which is then used unsafely as a loop counter in ETD.sys for a stack buffer copy. A local attacker with standard user privileges can trigger a kernel crash (BSOD) causing denial of service. This affects ELAN Smart-Pad versions up to ETD24.21.52.3. No patch or official remediation has been confirmed yet. Join the discussion | CVE Database V5 | 08/06/2026, 03:46:00 UTC Added: 08/06/2026, 04:26:48 UTC |
