CVE-2026-19028: CWE-190 Integer overflow or wraparound in The HDF Group HDF5CVE-2026-19028
0

CVE-2026-19028 is an integer underflow vulnerability in the HDF5 library (up to version 2.3.0) in the function H5Z__filter_fletcher32. The flaw occurs because the code subtracts 4 bytes from the input buffer size without verifying the buffer is at least 4 bytes long, leading to a size_t underflow. This can cause a denial of service through an out-of-bounds read and application crash when processing crafted HDF5 files with small Fletcher32-filtered chunks. The issue can be triggered by tools like h5ls or h5dump when reading such files.
