Affected devices do not properly validate and sanitize Technology Object (TO) name rendered on the "Motion Control Diagnostics" page of the web interface. This could allow an authenticated attacker who is authorized to download a TIA project into the product, to inject malicious scripts into the page.
If a benign user with appropriate rights accesses the "Motion Control Diagnostics" parameters page, the malicious code would be executed in the scope of their web session.

The vulnerability in Siemens SIMATIC Drive Controller CPU 1504D TF arises from improper neutralization of input during web page generation (CWE-79). Specifically, the Technology Object (TO) name displayed on the Motion Control Diagnostics page is not properly sanitized, allowing an authenticated attacker authorized to download TIA projects to inject malicious scripts. These scripts execute in the context of the web session of any benign user who accesses the affected page with sufficient privileges. This can lead to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system's web interface session.
