CVE-2026-31978: CWE-22: Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') in motioneye-project motioneyeCVE-2026-31978
0

motionEye versions prior to 0.44.0 contain a path traversal vulnerability in certain API endpoints that handle picture and movie files. This flaw allows authenticated users with normal privileges to read arbitrary files on the filesystem accessible to the motionEye process user. The vulnerability arises because the filename parameter is not properly sanitized to prevent directory traversal sequences such as '..'. This issue has been fixed in version 0.44.0.
