It arises from unsafe handling of symbolic links during extraction of . tar and . tar.gz archives, allowing crafted archives to write files to arbitrary filesystem locations. Exploitation requires the attacker to have Item/Configure permissions or control over agent processes. Successful exploitation can lead to deployment of malicious scripts or plugins on the Jenkins controller, compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
