It allows a remote attacker to exploit heap corruption by crafting a malicious HTML page, potentially leading to full compromise of the affected system. The vulnerability requires user interaction, such as visiting a malicious webpage, and does not require prior authentication. Exploitation can result in complete loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the browser and possibly the underlying system. Although no known exploits are currently reported in the wild, the high CVSS score of 8.8 indicates a significant risk.
