CVE-2026-47261: CWE-284: Improper Access Control in bytecodealliance wasmtimeCVE-2026-47261
0

CVE-2026-47261 is an improper access control vulnerability in the wasmtime runtime for WebAssembly. It affects certain versions prior to 24.0.9, 36.0.10, and 44.0.2 where a filesystem preopen with DirPerms::all() and FilePerms::READ but without FilePerms::WRITE can be bypassed using the OpenFlags::TRUNCATE flag. This allows bypassing intended access restrictions due to a missing write mode flag in the open operation. The vulnerability only affects wasmtime-wasi embeddings that combine DirPerms::MUTATE with FilePerms::READ. The issue has been fixed in versions 24.0.9, 36.0.10, and 44.0.2.
