The vulnerability arises because the compiler accepts attacker-controlled filename and line number metadata without validation, leading to potential out-of-bounds memory access and crashes when invalid or oversized line numbers are supplied. The vulnerability was confirmed in the version corresponding to commit b480958, though other versions have not been tested.
