A vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to the BPF subsystem was resolved by renaming a configuration option from CONFIG_CFI_CLANG to CONFIG_CFI. The incorrect configuration name caused the relevant code to be compiled out, allowing Control Flow Integrity (CFI) failures for btf_dtor_kfunc_t to still trigger. This issue has been fixed by the renaming commit.

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel related to the BPF subsystem was resolved by renaming the kernel configuration option CONFIG_CFI_CLANG to CONFIG_CFI, making it compiler-agnostic. The incorrect configuration name caused critical code to be compiled out, allowing certain control flow integrity (CFI) checks to fail. This issue affects multiple Linux kernel versions prior to 7.0.0-28.28 and related builds. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 5.5 with low severity and impacts availability but not confidentiality or integrity. A patch is available and included in updated Linux kernel packages for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS and related releases. Users should update and reboot to apply the fix.
