CVE-2026-53994: Heap-based Buffer Overflow in ProFTPD Project ProFTPDCVE-2026-53994 0 CVE-2026-53994 is a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the mod_sftp module of ProFTPD. It is triggered by an authenticated SFTP user sending a malformed packet with a zero length field, causing an integer underflow and allocation of a smaller buffer than expected. This leads to a heap overflow when the server processes attacker-controlled data. The flaw allows an authenticated user to cause a denial of service by crashing the ProFTPD session child process. While denial of service is confirmed, heap metadata corruption could potentially lead to further impacts, though no exploitation beyond DoS has been demonstrated.
