The issue involves improper validation of symbolic link targets in tarball and Docker layer extraction functions, allowing a malicious archive to create absolute symlinks pointing to the host filesystem. This can enable an attacker to write files onto the host system through these symlinks. The vulnerability is fixed in version 5.1.5.
