CVE-2026-54579 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the MidnightBSD package manager 'mport' prior to version 2.7.8. The vulnerability arises because the ping() function in libmport/ping.c does not properly validate ICMP reply fields and uses a fixed IP-header offset instead of the dynamic ip_hl field. This can allow a network attacker who can inject or spoof ICMP replies to influence mirror latency selection or cause an out-of-bounds read via malformed packets with IP options. The issue is fixed in version 2.7.8. Join the discussion | CVE Database V5 | 09/17/2026, 16:59:52 UTC Added: 09/17/2026, 22:12:15 UTC |
