CVE-2026-61695 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Wire Swift runtime affecting versions prior to 6.4.1 and between 7.0.0-alpha01 and 7.0.0-alpha04. It involves improper validation of array indexes in the ProtoReader.skipGroup method, which can accept a negative length for a LENGTH_DELIMITED field inside an unknown START_GROUP field. This leads to a process crash when decoding untrusted protobuf bytes, without requiring authentication or user interaction. The issue is fixed in versions 6.4.1 and 7.0.0-alpha04.
