CVE-2026-63294: CWE-59 Improper Link Resolution Before File Access ('Link Following') in Canonical LXDCVE-2026-63294 0 CVE-2026-63294 is a critical vulnerability in Canonical's LXD container management system that allows an attacker to execute commands as root on the host. The flaw arises from improper validation of symbolic links during the import or unpacking of image or backup archives, specifically involving the backup.yaml file. By crafting an archive with a malicious symlinked backup.yaml, an attacker can cause LXD to process unconfined configuration metadata, leading to arbitrary root command execution.
