CVE-2026-66793 is a high-severity vulnerability in Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes 2.11. It involves improper input validation in the governance-policy-addon-controller component, allowing a user with permissions to annotate the ManagedClusterAddOn resource to override the governance-policy container image. This flaw enables an attacker to run a controlled container image with cluster-admin privileges on the managed cluster, leading to arbitrary code execution and privilege escalation. Red Hat has issued security advisories and updated container images addressing this and other vulnerabilities in versions 2.11.11 and 2.17.1. Users are advised to apply these updates following Red Hat's guidance.

A flaw was found in the governance-policy-addon-controller component of Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes. A user with permissions to annotate the namespaced ManagedClusterAddOn resource can override the governance-policy container image. This allows an attacker to run a controlled image with cluster-admin privileges on the managed cluster, leading to arbitrary code execution and privilege escalation.
