CVE-2026-66898: CWE-22: Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') in Canonical LXDCVE-2026-66898 0 CVE-2026-66898 is a critical path traversal vulnerability in Canonical's LXD affecting multiple versions. The flaw occurs during backup import and restore operations where LXD does not properly validate instance and storage volume names in backup archive metadata. This allows an attacker to craft malicious backup archives with path traversal sequences, potentially enabling unauthorized file access or overwriting outside the intended restore directory.
