It involves the allocation of resources without limits or throttling in the SMTP data reading function. An unauthenticated SMTP client can send a single oversized line that exceeds the configured MaxMessageSize, causing Mailpit to allocate memory for the entire line before rejecting it. This can lead to substantial memory pressure and potential denial of service. The issue is fixed starting in version 1.30.5.
