A heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability exists in gfs2-utils due to improper bounds validation on the ea_num_ptrs field in extended attribute metadata. This flaw can lead to heap buffer over-read, potentially disclosing sensitive memory contents or causing a crash when processing crafted GFS2 filesystem images. Exploitation requires local access and user interaction by an administrator running gfs2-utils tools on a malicious image. The kernel GFS2 driver is not affected.
