The issue arises because these system files are maintained internally by the driver and should not be writable through the file interface. The vulnerability has been resolved by marking base metadata files as immutable during inode read, preventing write, mmap, truncate, and unlink operations via the VFS with a permission error. Directories remain writable to keep root and $Extend usable, and internal metadata updates are unaffected.
