CVE-2026-72694: Improper Link Resolution Before File Access ('Link Following') in Red Hat Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10CVE-2026-72694
0

CVE-2026-72694 is a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the MRTG daemon on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. The flaw occurs when the MRTG daemon is started as root and then drops privileges, allowing a local attacker to exploit symbolic link following in the PID file path. This can cause the root process to change ownership of arbitrary files to the daemon user, potentially leading to unauthorized access or modification of sensitive files.
