CVE-2026-72861: Improper Verification of Cryptographic Signature in appwrite templatesCVE-2026-72861
0

CVE-2026-72861 is a vulnerability in the appwrite/templates GitHub-issue-bot templates where the webhook signature verification logic is flawed. The verification function returns success if the signature header is missing, allowing unauthenticated requests to bypass signature checks. This enables attackers to post comments on arbitrary repositories and issues using the configured GITHUB_TOKEN. The vulnerability affects appwrite/templates versions up to and including 1.1.2. The CVSS score is 5.8 (medium severity). No official patch or remediation guidance is currently available.
